International civil service law

International civil service law is a specialised legal field that governs employment relationships between international organisations and their staff. Unlike national labor law, it is based on autonomous legal frameworks specific to each organisation, involving the application of staff regulations, internal rules, and dedicated legal provisions. It is also shaped by overarching legal principles and the case law of international administrative tribunals.

We assist international civil servants and officials at every stage of the legal process:

  • Before internal bodies of the organisation, by drafting internal appeals and providing representation in negotiations;
  • In arbitration proceedings;
  • Before specialised tribunals, both at first instance and on appeal, including advocacy when required, whether in France or abroad, in person or remotely.

Our support covers all areas where your rights require protection, including:

  • Disputes related to your employment contract;
  • Disciplinary proceedings;
  • Workplace conditions, including harassment cases.

With extensive experience in this highly specialised legal system, we provide expert guidance to help you navigate complex procedures and pursue necessary actions before the relevant bodies, such as:

  • The Administrative Tribunal of the International Labour Organisation (ILOAT);
  • The United Nations Tribunals (UNDT and UNAT);
  • Other international administrative tribunals (e.g., ESA, ESM Administrative Tribunals).

Our experience in handling large-scale litigation enables us to effectively assist in collective disputes involving multiple claimants.

We also advise staff associations and international organisations, offering strategic guidance on potential weaknesses in their legal frameworks, proposing appropriate reforms, and assisting in statutory or regulatory amendments.
